Ditto

The Insight
Ditto starts from the belief that technology should help people form real connections, rather than make the process of finding them more complicated. Instead of endless swiping and browsing, Ditto is designed around fewer, more intentional introductions, with the goal of helping people find relationships and connections they actually want.
The Product
Every Wednesday, Ditto delivers one match to each eligible user at a school. Users join through a verified .edu email, face photo and age check, and matches take into account stated preferences alongside signals such as shared interests, compatibility and an AI-powered read of each person’s profile.
Each match arrives as a personalised introduction with information on the other person, why Ditto thinks they may be compatible and a link to coordinate availability. When schedules overlap, Ditto confirms the date and opens a group chat to introduce the pair. Users can accept, decline, ask for more information or provide feedback directly in the same iMessage thread.
Over time, Ditto learns from each interaction. Accepts, declines and post-date feedback feed into a personalised memory that informs future matches, allowing revealed preferences to increasingly shape recommendations. After a successful first date, the product begins optimising for what might lead to a second.
The Journey
Allen Wang and Eric Liu both left Berkeley to build Ditto.
Outside company-building, Allen has a longstanding interest in music and nearly pursued a career as a rapper. Eric is passionate about travel, photography and bouldering.

Move fast and break things.
