August AI

The Insight
Healthcare is still largely organised around individual appointments, even though patients, particularly those managing chronic or complex conditions, live with questions and decisions every day.
Anuruddh experienced that gap personally after a misdiagnosis in his twenties left him spending months believing he had a serious progressive disease, largely alone between appointments. That experience shaped his conviction that patients need care that listens, remembers and stays with them over time.
The Product
August combines AI with licensed physicians to expand how much care can be delivered. Its AI gathers a patient’s medical history, assesses symptoms and completes structured clinical checks, while physicians review cases, make treatment decisions and prescribe where appropriate.
The platform can also help users understand symptoms, test results, prescriptions and next steps in care. Its health AI is available globally in more than 30 languages, with licensed physician care available across all 50 US states and Washington, DC.
The Journey
Anuruddh is an engineer by training and studied Electronics Engineering at IIT (BHU), Varanasi. Before founding August AI in 2022, he led Product at consumer social startup SuperShare.
August began on WhatsApp, where the team learned directly from how people talked about their health and the support they needed over time. It has since grown to nine million users across 160 countries, largely through organic adoption.
The Belief
Start with the patient, not the technology. August is built around three principles: stay close to the people you serve and let their problems determine what you build; take ownership of outcomes rather than simply completing tasks; and combine high standards with radical candour, challenging ideas directly while caring deeply about the people behind them.
